"The Structural Violence of Hyperincarceration" + Assignment

For this assignment, you need to read a short article, answer questions, and submit them. 

STEP 1: Read

Read "The Structural Violence of Hyperincarceration" by Karandinos and Bourgois. 

STEP 2: Answer Questions

1. What were some of Mr. M's health concerns and what barriers did he face in gaining treatment? 
2. Explain what structural violence is using your own words. 
3. What are some of the social/structural patterns of harm that impacted Mr. M?
4. Which of the three recommended clinical approaches (page 208) do you think would be the most beneficial? Why?
5. Please share something else that stood out to you about the article.
