LIC or Life Insurance Corporation is the most valued government-owned insurance company in India. LIC is an insurance and investment corporation owned by the Government of India. Over 245 insurance companies and provident societies were merged to establish LIC. LIC has more than 1,00,000 employees and six subsidiaries which include IDBI bank. ADO stands for Apprentice Development Officer and is a sales administrative job. The job of LIC ADO includes the following:

Exam:

There are three phases in the recruitment process of LIC ADO:

  • Online exam
  • Personal interview
  • Medical examination

Eligibility criteria

The minimum educational qualification for a candidate to sit for the post of LIC ADO is that the candidate must have completed graduation in any field from a university recognized by the UGC. The minimum age limit to sit for the post of LIC ADO is 21 years and the maximum age varies depending on the category of the applicant. It is as follows:

  • General: 30 years
  • OBC: 33 years
  • SC/ST: 35 years

Work experience

Candidates applying for LIC ADO must be a citizen of India. The work experience required to be fulfilled by the aspiring candidates is as follows:

  • Open category: Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years of experience in the life insurance industry.
  • LIC agent: The candidate must have at least five years of work experience as a LIC agent.
  • LIC employee: The candidate must have at least 3 years of service experience in Grade III post.
  • The above prerequisites are for LIC ADO urban posts. The candidate should have a minimum of four years of work experience as a LIC agent if applying for the LIC ADO rural posts. 

Application process

Candidates must apply on the official LIC website to sit for the position of LIC ADO. The registration process will be held in two steps. In the first step, the candidate must pay the application fees and in the second step, the candidate can fill the online application form and submit it. After successfully filling and submitting the application form, the candidate must take a printout for future reference. The application fee for the SC/ST/PWD categories is Rs 50 and for the other categories, it is Rs 600. The payment must be done online. 

LIC ADO exam pattern

The exam pattern is always mentioned in the official notification released on the LIC website. Individuals must go through the exam pattern of the previous years to understand and prepare accordingly for the upcoming exam. The hiring process is different for different kinds of applicants.   • LIC Agents category: The candidates who are working as LIC agents can only apply in this category.

The written exam is an online exam and is done in two phases. The topics and marking scheme is for these two phases is summarised below:

  • LIC ADO prelims: Only the candidates applying in the open category should attempt the prelims exams. The LIC agents and LIC employees should directly attempt the mains exam. The LIC ADO prelims exam is held for a duration of 60 minutes. The topics for evaluation are given in the table below. The English marks are only for qualifying and are not considered for the ranking purpose.

  • LIC ADO mains: The exam pattern for LIC ADO Mains vary depending on the category of the applicant. The candidates applying in the open category are eligible for the Mains round only if they qualify for prelims. The topics for different categories are summarised below:

Personal interview

Individuals who have successfully cleared the mains round are called for a personal interview. The total marks of the interview are 37 and comprise aptitude-based questions. The final rank list of LIC ADO consists of total score acquired in the LIC ADO personal interview and LIC ADO mains exam. 

Medical test

The candidates shortlisted after the interview round are needed to undergo the medical test conducted by the LIC ADO. Individuals who clear this round are appointed as LIC ADO.
