Get an AWS Account

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a major provider of cloud computing services. You can use AWS to host web sites and to provide many more information technology services. Registered students at North Seattle College can have a free educational account with AWS. To get that, send the instructor your email. Your AWS account will be hosted here:

To set up your account, respond to the email invitation. You get to set your own user name and password. This is a separate account from any other. Do not try to use existing North Seattle College, ctcLink, or AWS logins. Just make a new login with whatever password you wish. Once you activate your account, you should get access to a screen like the one below.

Go to "Modules" and select the "Learner Lab - Foundational Services" link.

Press "Start Lab".

It takes a couple minutes for the lab to start. This because AWS services are being configured in the background. While lab setup is still in process, you will see the screen below.

When to spinning arrow image leaves with screen, press "AWS".

This brings you to the AWS Console. From here, you can select services. We'll be using these services on future Switchbacks to host web sites and other applications.
