Purpose
The purpose of the exam is for students to apply and evaluate key anthropological concepts we have been discussing in the course. Skills needed for the exam include: identifying and explaining key concepts, connecting concepts to cross-cultural examples, and producing/evaluating anthropological arguments. These skills will be used in future college courses. Students will increase their knowledge of cross-cultural perspectives for application in their daily lives.
Directions
The Midterm Exam will consist of 8 multiple choice questions (10 points each) and 2 short answer questions (20 points each). You will have 50 minutes to complete the exam, and it is open book and open note. I strongly recommend that you use course materials, not Google. Information found through Google may not be anthropological.
The exam will become available for 48 hours before the due date, but once you open it, it has to be submitted in 50 minutes.
You will have two attempts on the exam, though different questions will appear the second time. The higher score will be kept.
When is the Exam Due?
The exam is due on the date listed in Canvas. The exam remains open for 72 hours after the due date for late submissions following the policy in the syllabus.
How Can I Prepare for the Exam?
A study guide will be posted in Canvas prior to the exam.
Criteria for Evaluation
Students will be graded on their ability to fully answer each question and demonstrate an understanding of anthropological perspectives on the issue.
Examples
Example questions and answers are posted in this Canvas module.
