The information in the previous presentation on rhetoric, rhetorical analysis, and rhetorical appeals will be useful to you as we proceed through the quarter, both as readers and writers. As readers, it will help you see past the surface when you're reading through research, to focus on the rhetorical situation out of which your sources emerge, and to think critically about the information you're finding from a rhetorical perspective. As writers, it will help you think carefully and write deliberately, in full awareness of the effect your rhetorical choices have when you perform analysis and compose arguments.
