High School Instructor Responsibilites
HS Duties & Responsibilities
- After appointment to the program, attend an orientation session with NSC Course Partner to collaborate on the course syllabus, teaching materials, and assessment criteria. Also discuss the pedagogical, theoretical, and philosophical orientation of the NSC academic department and how the CHS course should reflect this orientation.
- Provide logistical support for students and parents through the distribution of documents (CHS Student Handbook, website) and explanation of program benefits. Communicate prerequisite requirements and assure they have been met.
- Guide students through the application and registration process. Work with students to complete the free online admission form, collect ID numbers, then assist students with enrollment. See the College in the High School website for enrollment deadlines and the Application and Enrollment Process directions located in the next module.
- Verify and monitor your class roster and keep NSC appraised of any discrepancies. Keep students informed of deadlines for fee payment, dropping the course, etc. Post grades through the online system. (Your on-campus training will include information on this system, but since time will have passed before you’ll use it, please feel free to ask for assistance.)
- Work with NSC Course Partner to schedule site visits. Have necessary materials ready. Collaborate with NSC Course Partner as needed.
Suspension of Approval
Failure to fulfill teacher responsibilities may result in a suspension of approval. Our goal is to collaborate and resolve any consistent deficiencies in fulfilling these obligations by first developing an Instruction Improvement Plan. If the plan outcomes are not met the college will not renew the teacher’s approval for the next academic year. Currently enrolled students will not be affected and compensation to both the teacher and Course Partner will not be affected.
